A career begins
I like basketball, and I watch basketball, but the main thing I know about playing basketball is that you need grit. I think. Or hustle maybe. You’ve gotta want it. And if you don’t want it (or have the hustle), you might blow a 3-1 lead in the NBA Finals. Well, I want it. But because I suck at NBA 2K17 so extraordinarily, I probably won’t make it anywhere near the Finals, even in a videogame—some fantasy.
(By the way, I tried to name myself ‘The Warriors Blew A 3-1 Lead In The NBA Finals’ but it didn’t give me enough characters so my first name is "The Warriors Ble" and my last name is "W A Three-One Le." I chose number 69.)For placing well in a Blacktop Challenge, you’ll earn two things. One is a large number of draft picks from the board of cards you see at the end of every Quick Game, which can be helpful for racking up large numbers of low level cards to level up your top players.
You also receive Reward Points that can be used to create special cards you can only earn from this mode. To see them, tap the ‘Ultimate Creator’ button from the Blacktop Challenge main screen. What you’ll see is a pyramid of cards ranging from Super Rare to Legendary (at least at the time of this post), that can be created by the use of certain recipes accessed by buttons at the bottom of the screen.
Each recipe requires a certain number of cards: Players, Extras, Enhancements and Abilities, all of which are tracked by the recipe screen except for the players. Once you have the ingredients, you simply tap the ‘Create’ button and you’ll have a new card. The proper number of Reward Points will be deducted when you do. Note that you can also use Credits to make up for any missing cards if necessary.
Blacktop Challenge reward cards appear to be exclusive to the Ultimate Creator and reset on a monthly basis. Players have the freedom to choose a position and an archetype when creating their MyPlayer. Sticking to the skills chosen is important in making characters shine. Gamers should focus on the areas of expertise of the characters to improve it even more and make them stand out. Larger bonuses are waiting for those who will follow this advice.
Upgrade regularly
Upgrading regularly does not mean players have to spend all virtual currencies in one blow. Setting a schedule when to buy upgrades will help and spend currencies wisely.
Practice
NBA 2K17 players can improve the skills of characters by allowing them to attend practices. The drills might become repetitive but it will help shape MyPlayer. Plus rewards are also waiting which is the best part of it.
